Angel Beats! (エンジェルビーツ！, Enjeru Bītsu!) is a visual novel project by Key's Visual Arts based on the anime series of the same name. The visual novel is planned to get composed of six volumes, the first of which was released on June 26, 2015. Angel Beats! is a collaboration project of Key, Dengeki G's, and Aniplex. The story of the visual novel is to be based on the Angel Beats! anime series. The player takes on the role of Otonashi, a newcomer to the Afterlife who finds himself in the middle of a struggle between a group of students who call themselves the Shinda Sekai Sensen ("Afterlife Battlefront"), or SSS for short, and a mysterious girl who is known under the alias of Tenshi (Angel). The story will undergo changes from the original anime and will include story routes with each of the characters. It also stated that Otonashi will be very different than his original personality in the anime, and will change according to the choices made by the player. [Edited from Angel Beats! wiki] Rumors of a game release existed since 2010, but a formal game announcement was made in 2013. The first volume was released on June 26, 2015. Only the first volume had been released while the other five planned volumes have been abandoned with no announcement.

Angel Beats! 1st Beat is a Japanese visual novel based on the 2010 anime television series Angel Beats!, developed by Key and the first in a planned series of six volumes. It takes place in the afterlife and focuses on Otonashi, a boy who lost his memories of his life after dying. He is enrolled in the afterlife school and meets a girl named Yuri who invites him to join the Afterlife Battlefront, an organization she leads that fights against God. The Battlefront fights against the student council president Angel, a girl with supernatural powers.
